U.S. President Trump: China and U.S. should be responsible for the world

During the ninth round of China-U.S. trade talks in Washington on Thursday, U.S. President Trump said China and the U.S. should be responsible for the world and a tradeagreement between the two sides is favorable to the world.

Trump made the statement in response to a question raised by a reporter from China Media Group.

The reporter asked Trump what he thinks of the Malaysian trade minister's remark that negotiations between the U.S. and China would "affect everyone," as he urged the two sides to feel a sense of global responsibility.

The President noted that he thinks both countries do have a responsibility to the world, "and that's a big reason we're here." He said this will be a tremendous thing for the two sides and even the world if "we get it done."

That same day, Trump met with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He at the White House, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chief of the Chinese side of the China-U.S. comprehensive economic dialogue.

The ninth round of the high-level China-U.S. economic and trade consultation was held in Washington from April 3 to 5.
